May 3rd is INTERNATIONAL BLISS DAY

On May 3rd we celebrate INTERNATIONAL BLISS DAY!

This is a day for world peace. Inner world peace.  That place inside you that springs JOY.  Sometimes its easy to access.  Sometimes joy evades us. The month of May is always for Mental Health.

Joy is like a bank.  There are things, places, and people  that fill our reservoir.  There are things we think, places and people that  STEAL and deplete us.  Some activities multiply our joy.  Somethings divide it.

Peace is a protector of joy. Boundaries and awareness are the protector of our peace.  I only know this because of self-discovery.  A long-broken road, lead me to higher ground and a less traveled path; my path to peace.

Here’s the thing about Joy, and its protector Peace.  They are typically mutually exclusive.  Where we experience more peace, we find more joy.

I’m a true Taurus, and in true Taurus fashion, we celebrate our life cycle ALL year. 😊  During our season, we  do the most!  This year was an ordinary day filled with joy. So much joy that I was able to absorb the hurricane and earthquakes on that day  that all hit within a 3-hour window of time, and keep it moving.  Very slowly, but I was able to recover.

I grew up in a contained disfunction and constant state of anxiety.  Anxiety  is a norm for me.  There was always a fire, or a catastrophe.  My mother was always the one who had to create the solution.   She is an emotional sponge.  Until she became saturated and couldn’t take anymore.  Then it was my turn to absorb.

One thing that I learned about joy is that it is a buffer and life shield for the effects of trauma and drama.  Life is filled with trauma and drama.  Its inevitable. What is not guaranteed is the joy.  We can give our joy away, life can rob us of all pleasure and satisfaction, and we can find ourselves completely devoid of peace.

The one thing that experience has taught me is that we must protect our peace at all costs.   We must continually fill our souls with what brings us joy.  This looks different for us all.  For me, it is grounding.  Here are some of my bucket fillers.

  • ·         Writing (shocker) helps me on so many levels, and it truly gives me peace.
  • ·         Laughter.  It is medicine for the soul.
  • ·         Dancing.  Move your body and sync it to the rhythm.
  • ·         The outdoors is a vital part of my recalibrating experiences. I love hiking
  • ·         Planting and Gardening helps me to grow beauty in my life and reminds me of what is beautiful.
  • ·         Volunteering, and focusing on others is another resource for filling my cup.
  • ·         Self-Care. Almost anything that prioritizes your physical, mental, and financial health.
  • ·         Sharing is abundance personified.  I trust the universe to always be exactly what is required or desired, so much, I can demonstrate this by sharing.

Our internal joy feeds ourselves and others.  Its contagious.  The more joy we possess, the more peace we can attract.  When life shows up doing what it does best, we can breathe deep, roll up our sleeves and work past the temporary moments of pain.  JOY is strength.  We need the strength to endure.  We need strength to pursue the greatness within us.  We need strength to do for others.

This time of year, I always reflect.  I am most grateful for my life, and all that I’ve experienced in it.  The wiser I get, I know that my experiences are not good or bad, they just are.  I do believe more and more that life is happening more for me, and less to me. It is the time of year I am overflowing with clarity, grace, gratitude, and abundance.  It is all powered by the fireworks of joy in my soul.

Life can be unbelievable.  It can be unimaginably hard, and it can be overwhelmingly AMAZING.  I now know it can be both, at the same time.  On low days or during tough times, I have to remind myself that it’s getting better all the time.  I just have to make it to the good parts.  The best is yet to come. My life is such an amazing story of grace and a winner’s story.  I know that now  I lead a very soft life, and for this I give so much thanks.

I pray that I will never take for  granted the struggles I have overcome, and those that I manage daily.  I pray that I always will have compassion for myself, and those who are  struggling.

I am so fortunate that Iearned to love myself, so that I can love others, and be loved by others.

During this Taurus season, celebrate with me.  Celebrate the joy in your heart.  Celebrate the joy you see in others.  Celebrate the wonder and miracle you are in this world.  Experience world peace: the piece of the world you can control.   Happy International Bliss Day!

Abundance Always.
