Landscapes in Art

Landscapes

Don’t you love a two lane highway ride at sunset? In the Carolinas, its just the best!  All across our beautiful states we can see all of Gods majesty.  Mountains, Rivers, Lakes, Beaches, Farms, Skylines, rolling hills, Historic Trees, and Carolinas Blue Skies. It’s the landscapes for me.

I’m a well renown  painter in my inner most private thoughts. (lol) When I received the invitation to attend the exhibit Landscapes by Picasso,  I naturally replied, YES!

The exhibit was stellar.  It was like you had found an undiscovered treasure learning about other facets and insights into the brilliance of this iconic artist. Speaking of little known.  Who knew he also painted landscapes?

So I have a theory.  Nature inspires creativity. So much, that in order for me to “reset” I have to spend some time outdoors.  Fortunately for me, I have curated a healing garden in my back yard.  I call it my heart garden as its main focal point is the heart shaped elephant ears.  Irony, it is adjacent to a shade garden—which has an entirely different emotional cleansing depth to it. Such is life, such sunny bright beauty is always adjacent to the shade.

As I traveled the Picasso exhibit, I thought of what it was in those landscapes that inspired him to paint them the iconic way that he did using “Cubism”.  He painted homes, weather, trees, fields, and skylines.  My favorite landscapes were the nude people he painted.  Inspiration can come from anyone and anywhere.

The saying is true. “Beauty is in the eye of he beholder.” However, I think that what some perceive as beauty is just an example of some painting their pain.  Pain can be the catalyst for great creativity. Pain can be the derivative of such beauty.

Who knew what Pablo Picasso was feeling as he painted with fury?  For any artist at that.  All I can say is that some of my greatest inspiration has flowed from landscapes that served as a refuge for my  pain and rage.  The landscapes are where I go to retreat, or to refuel.  What drives me there is equally polarizing.  I can be on top of the world, and I’ll go outdoors.  I can be struggling to get up and go on, and I’ll find my way outdoors.

As I was intrigued and inspired by the beauty of the art of Pablo Picasso, I was reminded that an incredible treasure is hidden within us all.  The question becomes, what set of circumstances and courage is required for us to exhibit our gifts and talents inspired by our very own landscapes?

I pray we discover them and share them with the world. Channel your inner Picasso! At the very least, enjoy what inspires you more and more.

Abundance Always
