Daily Bread

One thing that I am truly grateful for is a full plate. It is something most of us take for granted. We do well to remind ourselves often. I created a series of mantras that I Meditate on while doing cardio or mindfulness activities. One of them is this.

Everything is great, cause I got a full plate.
I am blessed.
I am free.
I receive.
I believe.
I give thanks. I give thanks. I give thanks.

It's everything about" saying grace"that I enjoy. I say it quickly, but with the deepest reverance.
I do enjoy food, like the best of them. More than the food, I love the ability to satisfy. Cooking is a great pleasure of mine. It is one of my love languages. If I love you, I want to cook for you. I give thanks that I can burn! Cleaning up afterwards, is not apart of the deal. 🤣

I do enjoy the dinner table. For about 10 years, I didn't have the space for a full dining room table. There is something very special about being seated face to face and enjoying a meal. I remember moving and getting my childhood table and kitchen items back from storage. That first meal felt sacred.

The actual plate matters to me. During that same time period, we ate from alot of paper plates. One because it reduced clean up. Two, because I didn't have space for dining sets. Now the one thing I've never compromised was eating with a real fork. As God blessed us, my plates went from mix matched to porcelain. So before a bite of food hits our plates, I'm grateful in my heart because I remember when there were none...

God knows the desires of your heart. China is something I would have never paid for, but inwardly I desired it. I KNEW my current house was for me the moment I saw the built in China cabinet. I just didn't know when or where that China would come from. This year, I helped a friend clean out the home of someone who died. The deceased collected China and pottery. They gave me this full set for FREE. I remember going through it and washing the dishes. I gave thanks for receiving, and having the space to accept it. We celebrated my sisters birthday recently, and this is what she requested I cook for her.( RIBS, slaw, baked beans, and collards)
I give thanks for food abundance. Once I was dining with close friends. We were at a high end steak house spending too much for too little. (But it was delicious) They began sharing stories of being hungry. (poor without food) My family was by no means wealthy, but I've never known hunger. (Bless God) So I sat in silence and gratitude. I was humbled, because I could not relate.

The one thing I did think of was that I never check out the grocery store without giving thanks. There have been tough tough times. I know what putting items back feels like. I know what planning and stretching meals feels like. I still know the guilt I feel today throwing away food.
I also know that if it weren't for the grace and mercy of God, it would be me in this need.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It is all about family, friends, food, and Gratitude. This season, I pray you have a full plate, enough to share with a few others who have no plate or utensils. As you enjoy all the people and things that bring you JOY, remember to capture those moments of felicity in your heart, and give thanks for your daily bread.

Abundance Always. Happy Holidays2U
