The burden of genius

The burden of genius.

A colleague recently posted about the struggle creative people have in choosing their predominant energy to prioritize. My response to her social media post was why do we have to choose one thing?  The notion is limiting.

Influential leaders would say people should focus on ONE thing at a time. This is ONE proven strategy. It is scalable for the masses.   Creative people do not fit the “ researched statistical data  curve”. They are outliers. Truth be told, although we all “know” this method of singular focus is successful, most people don’t do it.  Myself included. Here are a few reasons why…

We are in Perpetual Motion

According to physics and science, everything is in constant motion.  Every cell in our body, and every particle in the universe is moving toward something. Everything we experience in our environment is simultaneous. We are hard wired for conglomerates.   We are predisposed to desire and think in multiples. We take multiple simultaneous actions.

We are Capable Creators

Sometimes I fail to give myself credit.  If I believe I’m God like, then I have the capacity to create.  It is the divinity in me.  I am highly capable.

There is a difference between people who do creative things, or have creative ideas, and creatives.  The difference is genius.  I’m talking about people who are compelled and capable of doing multiple things at a high level. For some, genius is a gift/talent. For many, it is a consequence of practice success/discipline.

We are all capable of being genius, but only a few will practice and perfect it with mastery.

I have to remind myself of Philippians 4:13.  I am capable, with an emphasis on  all things.

We have limitations.

We are limitless, but in our current realities, we have many limitations. Consciousness, Time, and Stamina are just a few. If I could clone myself, I could eliminate my time and stamina  limitations.

Consciousness

If we use less than 10% of our brains, what could we do if we could access MORE?  Our subconscious brain is limitless.  We typically only access it when we sleep.

This is why I have so much clarity first thing  in the morning.  Everything I accept as my reality “lives” in my subconscious mind. However, my conscious mind is  limited and formatted with programming.  It is my brain programming  that creates my current reality.  It is also the same thing that limits it.

Time

Everyone could use a little more time, especially creative people. The sheer limitation of time pressures me to do more than one thing at a time. I live in a reality of deadlines and consequences.  This is what really imposes on our abilities the most, the time required to do a thing, or to my point, multiple things. Time is not only finite, but also fragile. Tomorrow is not promised to any of us. This puts pressure on us to prioritize and to limit ourselves.

Endurance and Stamina

All the money in the world can’t replace our ability to enjoy life. The older I get, the  better I understand this truth. We age, and we fade.   When I was younger, I could stay up all hours of the night. I had racing and soaring creativity. At the time, I didn’t have the mastery of introspection, or my present gravity of purpose. I don’t believe in regret, but I wish I had arrived at my current consciousness sooner, when I had greater stamina.

The idea that we should reduce capability is rampant in our society.

The more I thought about why we limit ourselves, I thought about the limitations we place on other people.  People are capable of more than one thing at a time.  Whether they should do multiple things at a time, or can do them well, are all subjective.  We are only limited by our faith. When we believe the impossible, it becomes quite possible.  This is where I am in my life.  Unimaginable faith without limitations; self-imposed or otherwise.

Regardless of where we fall on the “genius spectrum of creativity”, we all deserve the freedom of finding our dimension to be more of our authentic selves.  This is who we are without limitations or societal impositions.   We shouldn’t have to choose; we should be able to explore and develop our many talents and interests simultaneously.  In order to do this, we have to create a reality that will sustain the possibility. This is where we manifest the life we deserve.

All of this hits home for me right now.  I wrote previously about my swaying octopus.

It is taking tremendous courage to even tell people what I’m doing these days.  I feel like Noah in the bible, telling people it’s going to rain, and they’ve never seen rain before. (from me) True to this story, not only did it rain, but it also flooded from every direction; simultaneously.

With courage, I share my Octopus, even though I know the reaction people will give.

So, I told myself (and my colleague) to create the reality we desire. We do feel this burden as highly creative people who are capable of MORE.  We have to turn the limitation burden into opportunities.   We should be all of who we are capable of being, because we are geniuses!

What passions do you struggle with prioritizing?  How is it a burden to you, and where are your opportunities?  In a perfect world, could you do it all?  Today our worlds may not be ideal or perfect, but how do we work at perfecting our future reality? The work of introspection never ceases.

Abundance Always!
