Rushing Water
They say that the sound of rushing water relaxes the brain. It
correlates to a meditative state to create a calming effect.
All I know is that I am drawn to the sound of flowing rushing
water. Some of my favorite hikes are where
there are nearby waterfalls. It amplifies
the sound of flowing/rushing water. This
past week I was hiking to a waterfall, and I went to the middle of the creek
bed to sit and meditate.
There is nothing like connecting to nature. It completely
resets me. Nothing else can make me instantly become PRESENT and grateful like
sitting in nature. Add the sound of rushing
water, and I literally levitate.
Like anything in life, it’s the journey. The waterfall is the destination. Seeing and experiencing the beauty and
serenity is the goal. The healing is always in the path forward. The trail.
As I walked this trail, I noticed the beauty that surrounded me. The seasons were changing. Everything was still lush green, with the
faintest hints of fall setting in. I had
never seen this trail in early fall before.
It was stunning.
I stopped and took this picture.
Long before I knew how to meditate, I knew how to walk. Sometimes
we over complicate things in life. We
underrate some fundamental non- negotiables.
Walking alone is a fundamental path to peace. Mastering quieting your mind is no small
feat. Especially when we are troubled, or have heavy thoughts.
Walking is simple.
Walking clears the clutter in the brain , forces the blood to flow in
the body, and shifts our energy. For me
it was matter over mind. Before we learn
to master the mind, we may have to use muscle memory and master the body which
can impact the mind. It metaphysically creates endorphins. This can
elevate our state.
There have been periods in my life where walking made ALL
the difference. Walk it out. Dance it out.
Make it simple and get moving. The more we learn, we can elevate to meditative
states in mere moments. However, I’ll
never forget my initial path was always a crisp walk.
On this day, as I walked, I thought to myself, this is the dream. The path ahead has something beautiful up
there. (a waterfall ) The path back will
encounter some unknown people and or creatures, but it will lead me to where I
need to be. (home) All along I heard the
sound of rushing water singing to me a melody that I was EXACTLY where I needed
to be, and everything was going to be better than ok.
No matter what you are going through, I can’t guarantee you’ll
feel better though it, but I can guarantee that as you progress, the sound of
rushing water can reassure you in ways that nothing else can. Take a hike, and get some fresh air. You may encounter world peace.
